Alisa Vlahakis Povenmire, LMT, has had a lifelong interest in health and she originally intended to become a physician. She studied biology at Tufts University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science. In the course of her studies, she realized that her interests lay in more hands-on, holistic approaches to healing and teaching. After teaching (health and other things) for ten years, she finally followed her hands to the Solidago School of Massage in Amesbury, Massachusetts. At Solidago, Alisa learned an integrated intuitive approach to massage that encourages the practitioner to “listen” to the body’s muscles, and to follow the hands’ innate wisdom. Alisa pays attention to the whole health of her clients and works to support their health goals through bodywork and mind-body education. She is the author ofAn Invitation to Massage.
